Digital Goa, Jan 18 – Environmental Public Hearing for Sirigao Mineral Block commenced at Narayan Zantye Multipurpose Sports Complex, Sarvan, Bicholim for ascertaining concerns of the affected persons for the project. The Public Hearing is being conducted by the Goa State Pollution Control Board in consultation with the govt in view of Environment Impact Assessment with reference to Block III Monte De Sirigao Mineral Block with area of 95.6712 Ha Located in Sirigao villages of Bicholim Taluka, North Goa District for the production of 0.5 МТРА of iron ore by M/s. Rajaram Bandekar (Sirigao) Mines Pvt. Ltd. Heavy police force has been deployed at the site to avoid any law and order situation. People in the locality have been demanding that temples including the famous Lairai Devi temple, houses and natural water sources should be kept out of the purview of these mining leases. The issues are likely to be reflected during the public hearing.
