Digital Goa, Oct 31- A couple from Nuvem has been booked by Economic Offence Cell(EOC) of Goa police for allegedly cheating hundreds of people to the tune of over Rs 20 crores. 53-year-old Myron Rodrigues and his wife 40-year-old Deepali Parab from Nuvem allegedly lured people into investing in stocks by assuring very high returns. Police said that the couple posing as stock broker and investment consultant dishonestly induced the investors to invest money in the stock market and other financial instruments from the period Dec 2011 to July 2023. As per complaints filed against them by over 30 people, the duo failed to pay assured returns as well the principal amount and cheated investors to the tune of Rs 20,83,90,336. Over a period of time the duo stopped responding to calls raising suspicion. Following this many victims filed complained with EOC. A senior citizen from Navelim had also filed a complaint with EOC earlier that the duo had cheated him to the tune of Rs 36.54 lakh on pretext of investing money in stocks and giving high returns.
