Digital Goa, Jan 22 – Calangute police have registered a case of cheating and extortion against three unknown persons following a complaint by Yash Shah from Surat, Gujarat. According to the complaint, prior to January 11, 2026, Shah and his friends were visiting Goa and staying in Calangute, when they contacted an online escort service. An unknown accused allegedly finalised a deal of ₹15,000 for three women and shared photographs. However, only two women reportedly arrived and were different from the photographs shown, states the complaint. The complainant alleged that two other accused later entered the room, created a scene and threatened the group with false implications unless more money was paid. The accused allegedly snatched Shah’s mobile phone and unauthorisedly transferred ₹96,000 and ₹16,200 from his bank account.
