Excise dept revenue for past five and half years pegged at Rs 3,205 crore

    Digital Goa, Aug 2 – Revenue to the tune of Rs 3,205 crore has been collected by the Excise Department for last five and half financial years, the House was told in a written reply today by CM and Finance Minister Pramod Sawant. There has been steady increase in revenue.The financial year wise revenue is as follows : 2018-19 – Rs 478 crore, 2019-20 – Rs 491 crore, 2020-21 –Rs 515 crore, 2021-22 – Rs 650 crore, 2022-23- Rs 865 crore. For the ongoing financial year i.e. from April 2023 to June 2023 the revenue figure stands at Rs 206 crore. Sawant listed out various measures including constitution of enforcement cell to plug revenue leakage.
    ▪️ Taluka wise survey to keep check on subletting of liquor licenses
    Informing that excise licenses are given to the applicants with 25 years of residence as precondition, CM asked Goans not to sublet or transfer their liquor licenses. He also assured the house of carrying out Taluka wise survey to keep a check on such subletting.
