Digital Goa, Nov 18 – At the 19th Meeting of the Goa State Wetland Authority (GSWA), several important decisions were taken to strengthen wetland conservation and expand the list of protected sites in the State. Officials discussed measures for the conservation of existing wetlands, alongside the identification of additional wetlands. The Authority also examined ways to ensure sustainable use of mining pits.
Scheme for revival of Salt Pans announced
Goa government today announced the launch of “Salt Pan Conservation, Support and Revival Scheme”, a dedicated initiative for the conservation, support and revival of salt pans. The scheme aims to restore traditional salt farming, provide financial assistance to salt pan owners, and safeguard Goa’s cultural and agricultural legacy linked to salt production. The 1st Meeting of the Special Task Committee on Salt Pans was held today.
