Digital Goa, July 17- The fabricated steel structure above the open air theater stage was not part of the ongoing renovation work and was neither repaired nor renovated, claimed Art & Culture Minister Govind Gaude reacting to the Kala Academy open air theater stage roof collapse. “The Structure which fell down was not repaired or renovated, it was untouched, it is separate from the main structure,” asserted Gaude. “The fabrication steel structure has fallen down. Slab is a different structure,” he said. “It’s a 40 to 43 years old structure. Plates or nut bolt may have come off,” he opined. “IIT and GSIDC reports sought by the govt regarding KA renovation had no recommendations for strengthening of this structure,” Gaude tried to further clarify.

Gaude put the ball in PWD’s court vis-a-vis the Kala Academy open air theater stage roof collapse. “I cannot comment much as the building has already been given to PWD. They will be able to explain in much better manner,” said Gaude. “I have asked PWD for a report as to what is the main cause. Once the report comes I will be able to elaborate,” he said.
