Digital Goa, Mar 7 – Civil Registrar cum Sub Registrar of Salcete, Suraj Vernekar has filed a complaint with the Fatorda police stating that forged documents of residence certificates were being submitted online for marriage registration. Vernekar said that his office detected a bogus residence certificate 2-3 days back and have now started checking every certificate submitted online. 6 such bogus certificates have been identified since then, he added. The outward number of all the fake certificates is the same while one of the certificate was issued in the name of a Mamlatdar who has already been transferred, he pointed out. The officer expressed concern that agents involved in the forgery would be extracting large sums of money from gullible citizens and providing them with fake certificates.
