Female students consistently outnumber male counterparts in higher education in Goa

    Digital Goa, May 30 – Gross Enrolment Ratio(GER) of female students in Higher Education in Goa is consistently higher as compared to their male counterpart over 5 years from 2016 to 2021, according to the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2020-2021 released by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. For the year 2020-2021 the male GER is 30.8 while the female GER is 37.3. However average GER for Goa which stands at 33.8 is 6.5 points above the national average of 27.3, indicating higher rate of people opting for higher education in the state. GER for past 5 years which is on a consistent rise is as follows.
    2020-21 – Male – 30.8, Female 37.3, Avg 33.8
    2019-20 – Male 26.9, Female 34.2 ,Avg 30.3
    2018-19 – Male 29.8, Female 34.9, Avg 32.2
    2017-18 – Male 28.2, Female 32.1, Avg 30
    2016-17 – Male 28.3, Female 32.4, Avg 30.2
    Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) is a commonly used measure of education participation and is calculated as the total enrolment in a level of education (e.g., higher education) expressed as a percentage of the eligible age group population for that level of education. GER has been estimated using population projections based on 2011 Census for the 18-23 age group
