Digital Goa, December, 21 – A fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday, December 21, at around 5 am, gutting the popular beachside restaurant and shack, Jamming Goat, at Utorda Beach. The blaze erupted while the establishment was closed and undergoing maintenance, and quickly engulfed the structure, causing extensive damage to the property. Initial estimates place the losses at several lakhs of rupees. Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and managed to bring the flames under control, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby shacks. No injuries were reported, as no one was present at the time of the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, the shack owner has expressed suspicion that the fireworks at a nearby event venue may have triggered the blaze. Meanwhile, officials from authorities were scheduled to visit the shack on Monday to check compliance related to an alleged CRZ violation involving extension beyond the earmarked area. The owner stated that the authority orders had already been complied with and the extended structure had been removed by them.
