Digital Goa, Oct 22- In a first major seizure at Mopa Airport, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence(DRI), Goa seized gold and iPhones worth Rs 3.92 crores from passengers arriving from Abu Dhabi. During the search of three passengers arriving from Abu Dhabi, DRI officials recovered 5.7 kg gold in a paste form and 28 iPhone 15 pro max handsets all worth Rs 3.92 crore. The accused are identified as Irfan (age 30 years) , resident of Uttar Pradesh, Kamran Ahmed Gayasuddin Khan (age 38 years) , resident of Mumbai, and Mohammed Irfan Ghulam Nabi alias Bala Patel (age 37years), resident of Gujarat. As per DRI, the accused are part of a gold smuggling syndicate operating between Mumbai and Dubai. They had travelled to Abu Dhabi on Oct 12 from Mumbai and arrived with the smuggled goods late night yesterday. The iPhones were wrapped in packets placed in the checked-in baggage. The gold paste was concealed in the waistband of a passenger and stitched to the inner layers of two passengers’ clothes.
