Digital Goa, August 12 – Directorate of Fisheries, has invited expressions of interest from agencies for providing “Drone Based Surveillance and Digital Data Maintenance” along the state’s coastline. The selected agency will have to deploy two high-end drones to cover the 193.95 km coastline of North and South Goa, each capable of flying 30 nautical miles per trip, with at least three flights daily. The drones are expected to operate 24×7. The surveillance system is expected to monitor and track fishing vessels, detect illegal and unauthorized activities, curb unregulated fishing, study fishing patterns in closed or restricted zones, and maintain digital database with images, videos, and GPS coordinates of vessels.
