Fishing boat capsizes in Chapora river; all 4 onboard rescued

Sept 26 – A fishing boat capsized in the Chapora river around 10 am today, with four persons on board. Fortunately, all four have been successfully rescued. The boat was returning after fishing in the sea. When it reached at a distance of around 1.5 km of the Chapora jetty, it capsized. All 4 on board who had jumped into the water while the boat was about to capsize were rescued by trawler workers from a nearby fishing boat. The rescued are identified as 68-year-old boat owner Chudgo Gaonkar from Chapora, 40-year-old Krishna Gaonkar, 22-year-old Dasram and 21-year-old Sandeep. Loss including the fibre boat, net, motor and other accessories is estimated to be around Rs 12 lakh.
