Gadkari proposes design competition for Zuari bridge towers; Rs 270 crore project to transform Goa’s tourism skyline

Digital Goa, May 23 – Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has suggested that the Goa government hold a competition among local architects to design the twin observatory towers atop the new Zuari Bridge, offering a prize of Rs 1–2 lakh for the winning entry. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the iconic towers on Friday, Gadkari said the project—estimated at Rs270.07 crore and set to be completed in five years—will feature Eiffel Tower-inspired structures with a revolving restaurant, art gallery, viewing decks, and world-class tourist amenities. The towers will be connected by 7.5-metre-wide walkway bridges on both marine sides, with parking at either end, aiming to create a global landmark and a major boost to Goa’s tourism, economy, and employment. Speaking on the occasion,CM Pramod Sawant said that the government has spent Rs 33,000 crore over the past 11 years on road infrastructure development in Goa. He also mentioned that a water taxi service from Pernem to Canacona has been proposed by Gadkari to further boost connectivity in the state.
