GFDC set to rejuvenate 1240 ha of cashew plantation in 5 years by spending Rs 31.67 crore

Oct 24- Around 1240 ha of cashew plantation is proposed to be rejuvenated over a period of 5years by spending Rs 31.67 crores through the Goa Forest Development Corporation. Forest Dept has notified the Financial Assistance for Rejuvenation of Cashew Plantation of the Goa Forest Development Corporation Ltd. (GFDCL) (Year 2024-25 to 2032-33), to this effect. In the first year, i.e. 2024-25 area of 120 hectare of this area is expected to be covered by spending Rs 1.49 crore. About 600-700 families can be effectively engaged in managing 1240 hectare plantation, states the notification issued in this regards. The areas where cultivation is proposed were given to GFDC on lease for a period of 40 years.
