Digital Goa, July 29 – The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has directed the PWD and Health Department to inspect consumers’ water meters at least once every three months and launch an awareness campaign on cleaning water storage tanks following the discovery of worm-like organisms in tap water at Zarme, Sattari. The Commission noted that laboratory tests found water supplied from the Dabose Water Treatment Plant to be safe for drinking. However, officials identified contamination risks in the consumer’s overhead tank and poorly maintained water meter. The GHRC also recommended surprise inspections by the Health Department, an app-based reporting system for meter readers and sought an action taken report by September 30
