Digital Goa, August, 19 – A GHRDC security guard, Asha Chodankar, was arrested after she was allegedly caught trying to smuggle drugs into the Colvale Central Jail. According to a complaint filed by the Jail Superintendent, Chodankar was detained at the jail’s frisking point after security personnel suspected her of carrying contraband. A search allegedly led to the recovery of 236 grams of ganja and 2 grams of charas, collectively valued at around ₹30,000. The drugs were reportedly concealed inside a steel water bottle. Security personnel also recovered three mobile phones and three ATM cards from her possession. Chodankar was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident. Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the accused GHRDC security guard would be suspended and subsequently terminated from service.
