GMC campus to get ‘five-star’ makeover; ₹500 crore earmarked for infrastructure

    Digital Goa, Aug 24 – The Goa Medical College campus will be developed into a “five-star campus” with underground cabling, improved lighting, landscaping, parking and other facilities through GSIDC, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said. Efforts will be made to complete the works by March, he added. Sawant was speaking at the inauguration of GMC’s new ₹40-crore Lecture Hall Complex. Spread over 5,482 sq m, the facility has three lecture halls with a combined capacity of 1,200 students.The CM said an additional ₹500 crore has been provided for strengthening GMC and allied infrastructure, including ₹200 crore for the college block, ₹106 crore for the GARD hostel, ₹90 crore for the boys’ hostel and ₹100 crore for a 100-bed facility and day-care centre at IPHB.
