Digital Goa, Jan 11- Goa stands 13th among 27 states in the country in the Swatch Survekshan ranking of 2023 while Maharashtra topped the list as the cleanest state. President of India, Droupadi Murmu conferred Swachh Survekshan awards 2023 in a function in Delhi today. Swachh Survekshan is an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in villages, cities and towns of states across India.
Panaji cleanest city and Sanquelim cleanest town within Goa
With a national ranking of 56 Panaji was adjudged the cleanest city with over one lakh population within Goa (Fast moving city). Although Sanquelim ranked at 867 nationally among cities with less than one lakh population, it was adjudged the cleanest state in Goa in that category as all other cities had rankings worse than Sanquelim. Ponda had the worst ranking of 3022 among Goan cities. Indore bagged the cleanest city of India title for the 7th year in a row while Surat emerged joint winner for the top rank in the Swachh Suvekshan results.
