Digital Goa, May 30- Union Education Ministry declared Goa a Fully Literate State under the ULLAS Bharat Literacy Programme. The announcement was made during the Statehood day Program held in the capital today. With an impressive literacy rate of 99.72%, Goa has joined the exclusive list of 100% literate states and union territories under the ULLAS program, which includes Meghalaya and Ladakh. “Our sustained collective efforts to strengthen the education sector with New Advancements, NEP 2020 have yielded the result,” said CM Sawant. Out of 6,299 identified illiterate individuals, 2,136 were trained and cleared the literacy program, while 4,163 faced challenges due to age or medical conditions. Notably, 82 panchayats achieved 100% literacy, with others surpassing the 95% national benchmark. Interestingly, literacy definition now also includes digital and financial literacy.
