Digital Goa, July 28 – Goa has achieved 91% of its compensatory afforestation (CA) target from 2019-20 to 2023-24—1,209 hectares out of the approved 1,330 as per a Supreme Court-mandated CEC report released on July 11, 2025. Nationally, India raised 1,78,261 hectares of compensatory afforestation against a target of 2,09,297 hectares between 2019-20 and 2023-24—achieving 85% of the planned area, the report adds. For 2024-25, Goa has nearly met its entire approved target of 217.23 hectares, with 217.22 hectares already completed, the report says further. Of the ₹144.74 crore approved for the five years, ₹88.55 crore (61%) was released, and ₹102.63 crore has been utilised. The state reported a survival rate of 81–88% for plantations.Noting delays in fund disbursement due to CAMPA funds being routed like regular state budgets,Goa has proposed direct fund release to the CAMPA CEO’s account, bypassing the State Finance Department, to avoid bottlenecks and ensure timely implementation.
