Digital Goa, June 5-Goa aims to expand mechanised agriculture from 400 to 4,000 hectares over the next 10 years. Speaking at the Kharif season launch in Raia, Salcete. Goa government will provide subsidies on drones, transplanters, and other agricultural machinery to Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) cultivating up to one lakh sq mtr of farmland, he said. Under the ‘Drone Didi’ scheme, the state will procure 10 drones within a month for use in agriculture by women, he informed. He also stressed the need for collective efforts to increase Goa’s forest cover from the current 66% to 76%.

A three-month Central government-approved Agri Clinic course for BSc Agriculture students will commence in Sakhali from July 2025. Graduates of the course will be eligible for 80% subsidised loans to start agri clinics, he informed further.
