Goa Assembly: CM Sawant to table 4 key bills, special debate in the House on ‘Vande Mataram’ tomorrow

Digital Goa, Jan 12 – The second day of the Goa Legislative Assembly’s Winter Session i.e. Tuesday is set to witness major legislative activity, with CM Dr Pramod Sawant scheduled to introduce four government bills.The bills include the Goa Jan Vishwas (Laws Amendment) Bill, 2026, aimed at decriminalising minor offences to promote ease of doing business; the GIM University Bill, 2026, seeking private university status for the Goa Institute of Management; the Goa Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, to streamline tax procedures; and the Goa School Education (Amendment) Bill, 2026, to update the state’s education framework. In addition, the House will take up a special motion led by the Chief Minister to commemorate 150 years of India’s national song, Vande Mataram, composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875.
