Digital Goa, Jan 22 – The Goa Board has clarified the implementation of the compensation marks scheme for the Class 10 examination from March 2026, allowing students to be declared pass even if they score only 10 per cent marks in a maximum of two subjects, provided they pass the remaining subjects. As per the circular issued to heads of secondary schools, candidates must secure a minimum of 8 marks out of 80 or 7 marks out of 70 in the external theory component to avail the benefit. Where a Board practical component of 20 marks is applicable, students must secure at least 2 marks. These criteria will also apply to sportsperson candidates. The Board clarified that the scheme applies to the six main subjects—English, Hindi, Marathi/Konkani, Social Science, Science and Mathematics. The guidelines have been issued in the context of syllabus changes following the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Classes 9 and 10.
