Digital Goa, May 21- As a tribute to India’s maritime heritage, the Indian Navy today inducted a traditionally built stitched sail ship as INSV Kaundinya at a ceremonial event held at the Karwar Naval Base at the hands of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The ship, launched in February 2025 at Diwar, Goa, is inspired by a 5th century CE vessel depicted in the Ajanta Caves. Constructed by Kerala artisans using ancient techniques of stitching wooden planks with coir rope and natural resin, the vessel was built under a tripartite agreement between the Ministry of Culture, Indian Navy, and M/s Hodi Innovations.
