Goa delegation to meet Union Home Minister post assembly session over ST reservation assures CM

    Digital Goa, July 21 – Goa govt is serious on giving political reservation to the tribal community of the state and a delegation will meet Union Home Minister and Law Minister in this regards after this assembly session, CM Pramod Sawant assured the House today. CM’s assurance came on the private Member Resolution moved by BJP MLA Ganesh Gaonkar in the house. “As per the census of 2011, Scheduled Tribes (ST) constitute 10.23% of Goa’s population. This community deserves to be brought into the mainstream, needs support to make the community more educated as well as empowered and hence needs a larger political representation to achieve the same,” stated the resolution which was passed by the house today. Based on the population 4 assembly seats are likely to be reserved for ST.
