Digital Goa, Mar 24- Tourism Director Kedar Naik today clarified that under the Central Scheme PRASAD, only parking, an information center, and lighting for the monument will be developed, not a mall. Assistant Superintendent Archaeologist Kishore Raghuvansh added that work, which began with necessary permissions, has been halted after the discovery of cannonballs, pending ASI clearance. Meanwhile, TCP Minister Vishwajeet Rane assured that no development will be allowed within the 100-meter buffer zone of the heritage site and warned of action against unauthorized tree felling. Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte also refuted claims of a mall, stating the government has no plans to commercialize the heritage area.
The clarification follows protests by citizens, environmentalists, and activists demanding that the government stop any proposed project near the Basilica of Bom Jesus heritage site.
