Digital Goa, April 21 – The Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has warned educational institutions against denying admission to children with disabilities, citing violations of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016. In a memorandum dated April 11, 2025, the department noted that it continues to receive complaints—despite previous circulars—regarding institutions refusing admission to students with disabilities, which is a clear violation of the law. “All institutions are directed to ensure full compliance with the mandates under the Act. Any act of denial or discrimination will be treated as a serious offence and dealt with under Section 89 of the RPwD Act,” the memorandum stated.
