Digital Goa, Nov 11 – High Court today partially allowed the appeal of a Nadora resident, acquitting him of child abuse charges while upholding his conviction for assaulting a minor in 2015. The court confirmed his conviction under Section 323 of the IPC, sentencing him to six months’ simple imprisonment, but set aside his conviction under Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003. It also directed that the ₹1 lakh fine paid under the Children’s Act be refunded within eight weeks. The case arose from a 2015 incident where the accused allegedly assaulted a child after a scuffle between children.
