Goa joins national mock drill on civil defence; security heightened at key locations: CM

Digital Goa, May 7 – CM Pramod Sawant today informed that both North and South Goa districts are among the 244 districts across India where mock drills under ‘Operation Abhyaas’ are being held to assess civil defence preparedness. He also lauded the Forces for carrying out Operation Sindoor on Pakistan. “Kudos to the Indian government and the armed forces for the success of Operation Sindoor. I salute all the three armed forces for the successful operation,” he said. The will include blackouts at some designated locations after 7 pm, he informed. Sawant said that as a coastal state, security has been strengthened at sensitive sites including the airports, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Mormugao Port Authority (MPA), and the capital city Panaji. Sawant was speaking to media persons after Cabinet meeting.
Meanwhile, amock drill simulating a fire scenario was successfully conducted at Dabolim Airport today. Airport Director George Varghese informed that two flights from the airport were cancelled today due to airspace restrictions.
