Goa launches palliative medicine OPD at GMC, aims to build state-wide care system

Digital Goa, October 10 – Palliative Medicine Outpatient Department (OPD) services were inaugurated today at Goa Medical College, Bambolim, marking a major step toward comprehensive end-of-life and chronic illness care in the state. Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane announced that Goa will become the first state in India to introduce a structured palliative care policy and system, with around 8,000 to 10,000 patients expected to benefit. Every PHC and CHC will soon be equipped with dedicated palliative care beds, he added.
