Digital Goa, June 23 – Finally some good news for those worried about the weak monsoon and its implications. IMD has forecasted increased rainfall activity over Goa during next five days in view of an off-shore trough (depression) at mean sea level which runs roughly along south Maharashtra Karnataka-north Kerala coasts. Several parts of Goa received rainfall since morning as the result of this trough. “South westerly to westerly winds prevail in the lower levels of the atmosphere over Goa up to 4km above mean sea level. Heavy rainfall (rainfall>64.4mm in 24 hrs) is very likely at a few places on 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th & 27th June 2023. Short intense spells and winds gusting to around 40 kmph likely along with the rainfall spell. Squally weather with wind speed 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely along and off South Maharashtra – Goa coast on 23rd to 27th June. Fishermen are advised not to venture along and off Goa coast for 5 days from 23rd June 2023”, says IMD.
