Digital Goa, Jan 14 – Goa government is mulling developing Utility Corridors across major roads in Goa to prevent frequent digging of roads for utility services, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Digambar Kamat said. He said PWD will create a utility corridor along a 1-km road stretch on a pilot basis to assess cost implications, as such roads are expensive to build. Based on the findings, the project may be replicated on other major roads across the State.
Goa government has made it mandatory to coordinate with all concerned departments before carrying out hotmixing of roads, Kamat informed further. He warned that strict action will be taken against officials in cases of lapses or failure in official correspondence. A coordination committee comprising heads of concerned departments will also be formed under the leadership of the PCE, PWD, he added.
