Jan 20 – A Goa Police driver from Cortalim has been arrested by Vasco police following a non-bailable warrant against him in a cheque bounce case. The accused is identified as Prasanna Akhadkar. Convicted under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, Akhadkar was ordered to pay Rs 3.2 lakh compensation but he failed to do so and Margao Sessions Court sentenced him to one year of simple imprisonment. He appealed against the conviction but failed to appear before the court. Following this court directed Vasco police to arrest him and present him before the court by Jan 27.
