Goa posts mixed economic signals for May: GST collections decline 8%, Post-Settlement SGST Surges by 15%

Digital Goa, June 1 – Goa recorded an 8% decline in GST collections in May 2026, with revenues falling to ₹535 crore from ₹582 crore in May 2025, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance. The data also showed that the number of registered GST taxpayers in Goa increased from 20,337 in May 2025 to 29,664 in May 2026. Goa’s collections dropped despite the country’s overall gross GST revenue increasing by 3.2 per cent to ₹1.94 lakh crore in May. However, data on state GST (SGST) collections showed a stronger performance. Goa’s pre-settlement SGST collections rose 18 per cent from ₹192 crore in May 2025 to ₹226 crore in May 2026. After accounting for the state’s share of IGST settlements, Goa’s post-settlement SGST revenue increased 15 % from ₹346 crore to ₹397 crore.
