Digital Goa, June 9 – Goa has been allocated ₹3.70 crore as part of the Centre’s interim allocation under the new rural development framework, VB-GRAMG, which will come into effect from July 1, 2026. The allocation was announced by Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during a meeting with State Rural Development Ministers held via video conference on Tuesday. The Centre released an interim allocation of ₹95,692 crore to states and Union Territories to ensure a smooth transition to the new framework aimed at boosting rural employment, workers’ welfare and village development. Chouhan said the Centre has already allocated ₹30,000 crore under MGNREGA and that the total allocation under the initiative will exceed ₹1.25 lakh crore. The Union Minister stressed that no rural worker should remain without work during the transition period and directed states to ensure uninterrupted employment generation and timely wage payments. He also urged states to complete necessary preparations, including notifications, e-KYC compliance and approval of development works through Gram Panchayats and Gram Sabhas.
