Digital Goa, Oct 31- Goa witnessed an overall increase of 6.23% in tourist arrivals between January and September 2025 compared to the same period last year, informed Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte. The state received 72.96 lakh domestic tourists as compared to 69.24 lakh of 2024, marking a 5.36% rise , and 3.36 lakh international tourists as compared to 2.59 lakh of last year, showing a 2.33% increase.Khaunte said that 34 charter flights landed in Goa in October alone. TUI will soon commence direct charter flights from Manchester and Gatwick, he informed. He highlighted that the tourism industry contributes 16.43% to Goa’s GDP and provides 43% of the state’s direct and indirect employment. Tourism Department has received ₹472 crore from the Centre for various projects. He reiterated that as part of EoDB, hotel registration for C and D category establishments will have deemed renewal within 60 days. He further warned hotel operators not to alter their category status on their own.
Trouble maker taxi operators will have to be ‘thought of differently’ says Khaunte
Asserting that digital platforms have to happen for smooth running of taxi business, he said the handful of troublemaker taxi operators will have to be ‘thought of differently’ by the govt.
