Digital Goa, August 13 – Goa govt launched the Pricing Policy for Innovative Lifesaving Therapies (PPILT), aimed at making next-generation treatments for rare and complex diseases affordable and accessible to Goans. Under the policy, the government and innovators will enter into confidential, outcome-linked pricing agreements to bring therapies—costing up to ₹50 lakh a year for conditions like cancer, genetic disorders, and autoimmune diseases—within the public healthcare budget, informed Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane. Lifesaving medicines will be procured at heavily discounted price as compared to common pool, through the initiative, he added.
AI-powered screening detects potential lung cancer risk in nearly 1,000 across Goa
Digital Goa, August 13 – Using AI-based screening technology developed by Qure.ai in collaboration with AstraZeneca, routine X-rays of 70,733 people across Goa’s community health centres, primary health centres, Goa Medical College, and other facilities were analysed for early signs of lung cancer. The triage identified close to 1,000 individuals as being at potential risk, informed Qure.ai officials.
