Goa sees 152 confirmed and 4,511 suspected dengue cases in Aug-Sept

    Digital Goa, Sept 25 – Goa has reported 152 confirmed and 4,511 suspected dengue cases in the two months of August and September 2023. Since Jan this year 16 dengue death cases have been reported at GMC. This information was shared by state epidemiologist Dr Prashant Suryavanshi today. He added that as regards dengue deaths, scrutiny is being done as to whether dengue was the only cause of death as some of the patients were alcoholic and some had other complications. Dr Suryavanshi said that through rapid test 1392 people tested positive for dengue in September of which 72 were confirmed of having dengue through the Elisa test. The figures in August were higher with 3119 cases testing positive with rapid kit test of which 80 cases were confirmed through Elisa test. Dr Suryavanshi added that Mormugao- Vasco, Panaji, Chimbel and Candolim are dengue hotspots. Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane informed that strict review of dengue cases will be done with detailed SOPs released for health officers.
