Goa State Film Festival 2025 concludes today with closing ceremony at Kala Academy

    The curtains will come down today on the 10th, 11th and 12th editions of the Goa State Film Festival 2025, which began on August 14. The four-day mega cinematic celebration was organised by the Department of Information and Publicity in association with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), with screenings held at Maquinez Palace and Inox, Panaji.

    The closing ceremony will be held this evening, 17th August 2025, at 3:30 PM at Kala Academy, Panjim, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Siolim MLA and ESG Vice Chairperson Delilah M. Lobo.

    This year’s unique format brought together three festival editions at once:

    • 10th Edition – featuring films made from Jan 2018 to Dec 2019
    • 11th Edition – featuring films made from Jan 2020 to Dec 2021
    • 12th Edition – featuring films made from Jan 2022 to Dec 2023

    The festival showcased Konkani and Marathi films in feature and non-feature categories, along with regional short films. It also featured Q&A sessions with filmmakers and cast, workshops, In-Conversation panels, masterclasses, market interactions and a knowledge series, giving Goan film professionals an opportunity to network and showcase their talent.

    Awards and Prize Money
    In the Feature Film category (separately for Konkani and Marathi), the Best Film will receive ₹5 lakh (first prize) and ₹3 lakh (second prize). Other awards include Best Direction, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting roles, Best Child Artiste, Best Story, Best Screenplay, Best Dialogues, Best Lyrics, Best Music, Best Playback Singer (male & female), Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Audiography, Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design, each carrying cash prizes of ₹25,000 to ₹50,000.

    In the Non-Feature Film section (combined Konkani & Marathi), two awards of ₹1 lakh each will be presented for Best Fiction and Best Non-Fiction films, along with other awards in technical categories.

    Short Film Competition was also held during the pre-festival phase, with participants required to make films within 48 hours of topic announcement. Prizes in this section include Best Film (₹25,000 and ₹20,000), Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor and Best Actor (male & female), each carrying ₹15,000.

    With screenings, interactive sessions and talent showcases, the festival has once again cemented itself as Goa’s premier platform for regional cinema. Today’s closing ceremony will celebrate the winning films and filmmakers who brought Goan stories and talent to the forefront.
