Digital Goa, Nov 16 – Goa govt will appoint a consultant to help it avail Carbon Credits Benefits for Waste Management and other technology projects of Goa Waste Management Corporation(GWMC). GWMC has invited bids for Consultancy Services to avail Carbon Credits Benefits for its Waste Management and other technology projects, for a period of Five years. GWMC has implemented several projects to mitigate carbon emissions from scientific treatment of Municipal Solid Waste and other categories of waste produced in the state of Goa. Considering that carbon emission mitigation activities are fetching financial rewards through eligible Voluntary Carbon Credits under Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) , Gold Standard, Global Carbon Council and IREC Mechanism, the GWMC aims to avail benefits of carbon credits by registering its projects with the relevant mechanisms. The consultancy firm is expected to help GWMC in the process. Carbon credits function as a type of environmental currency. The system also enables organizations to manage and monitor their carbon footprint while incorporating a financial incentive for eco-friendly practices.
