Digital Goa, Sept 15 – Goa govt today extended the scope the Goa Taxi App beyond the Mopa Airport Taxi counter to taxi operators, tourists and general public across the state. The app prepared by Goa govt through GEL was operational for over the counter queue system taxi services from Mopa Airport for the last 6 months is now open for other taxi operators as well as users across Goa. 500 taxi operators have been offering riders through the app from Mopa while 1000 taxi operators are already registered on the app, informed Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte. The taxi services offered through the app will follow the transport department specified rate chart. The govt app will operate along with the private GoaMiles multimodal transport app and taxi operators now have the option to join any one of two. Stating that Goa is already overfull with tourists, CM Sawant said that now the focus should be on getting quality tourists by providing them quality services. He pointed out that negative publicity gets generated when airport to within Goa destination costs more that flight ticket for the tourist. Govt is hopeful that in addition to tourists, the taxi service will be useful for locals, Industrial estates, car pooling, night taxis for party goers etc. Sawant claimed that it will help reduce accidents in the state as those going for parties can book the taxi through the app instead of driving home.
