Goa to be a green, export-driven shipbuilding hub by 2037: CM Sawant at Mumbai event

Digital Goa, Oct 27 – Goa is witnessing growing investment interest in the maritime sector said CM Pramod Sawant. He was speaking to media persons after the ‘Blue Meets Green’ session at the India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai. Highlighting Goa’s strategic role in India’s maritime growth, Sawant said investors have already been showing strong interest in shipbuilding and allied sectors in the state. “I took this opportunity to invite more investors to participate in Goa’s maritime expansion,” he stated. Major MoUs signed during the event included:
– ₹200 crore MoU between the Inland Waterways Authority of India and Captain of Ports Department, Government of Goa for the development of National Waterways.
– ₹3,500 crore MoU between Atlantic & Pacific LNG and Mormugao Port Authority(MPA) for setting up an LNG facility at Mormugao Port.
– ₹25 crore MoU between Marinetek Pvt. Ltd. and MPA for the construction of a floating marina for small and medium crafts.
The event also marked the launch of the Goa Maritime & Waterways Infrastructure Development Vision Document, outlining a roadmap for clean, efficient, and sustainable maritime growth. Sawant said the Shipbuilding Promotion Plan envisions Goa as a green, smart, export-driven shipbuilding hub by 2037. “The upcoming Goa Maritime Board will bring together ports, shipbuilding, tourism, and green energy under one unified platform, driving the next phase of sustainable growth,” he added.
