Digital Goa, May 20 – Goa Tourism Department is in the process of setting up a single-window MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) bureau as a nodal agency to promote MICE tourism in the state, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said. He was speaking to media persons after stakeholder meeting to chalk out the way forward for the states tourism industry on the backdrop of global uncertainties. He said the proposed bureau will take into consideration all stakeholders to streamline and boost Goa’s positioning as a MICE destination. Khaunte also said the government is contemplating imposing restrictions on the registration of new hotels in the C and D categories, while encouraging existing establishments in these segments to upgrade their facilities to improve revenue generation and marketability. However, he went on to add that no final decision has been taken in this regards.
