Goa University places assistant professor under suspension following allegation of disclosure of exam question paper to female student

Digital Goa, Mar 17- Goa University has placed Dr Pranav Naik, Assistant Professor, School of Physical & Applied Sciences under suspension following allegations that he had disclosed exam question paper to a female student and a complaint was filed against him at Agacaim Police Station in this regards. Dr Naik has been placed under suspension with effect from March 17,2025 until further orders pending inquiry proceedings, states an order issued in this regards by Goa University today.
“A Fact Finding committee has been constituted by Goa University to look into the matter of alleged paper theft from cabins of faculty members. The committee has been asked to submit it’s report within 48 hours. Based on the findings of the committee further action will be initiated in the matter,” informed Goa University Vice Chancellor Harilal Menon. He said that as of now no complaint regarding question paper theft has been made to him. There was an issue over opening of the cabin of other faculty member by the accused faculty allegedly for taking some chemicals for experiment from the cabin and the matter was sorted out after apology was tendered, asserted Menon. Media report of a faculty in the physics department stealing question papers from his colleagues cabins and sharing them with his female student had stirred a hornet’s nest. A complaint demanding thorough investigation into the incident has also been filed at Agacaim police station by social activist.
Incidentally, ABVP marched onto the administrative building of Goa University demanding immediate action in the matter. Vice Chancellor Menon has assured the students that due action will be initiated. He however denied receiving any formal complaint in the matter.
Meanwhile, NSUI has filed complaint at the Agacaim police station against the faculty and urged GU to terminate his services.
