Goa’s unemployment rate second highest in the country as per Union Ministry of Statistics report

Digital Goa, Oct 10 – At 9.7 % the Unemployment Rate of Goa for all age groups is second highest in the country as per the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) released by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) yesterday, Oct 9,2023. The report is based on Survey conducted during the period July 22 to June 2023. Unemployment Rate (UR) (in per cent) according to usual status (ps+ss) for Goa is way above the national average of 3.2 % , as per the stats in the report. The unemployment rate is 11.3 % in rural areas and 8.7 % in urban areas. In male population the rate stands at 7.7 % while with females it is at 14.7 %. At 11.1 % Lakshadweep has the highest unemployment rate while Goa and Andaman Nicobar stand at second position with unemployment rate of 9.7 %. At 1.4 % Tripura has the least rate of unemployment. Even the Unemployment Rate (UR) percentage according to current weekly status is third highest in the country at 10.8 % and is way above the national average of 5.1%.
