Govt accepts Chorao villagers’ demand on RoRo ferry charges

Digital Goa, Sept 1 – The government has accepted the demand of Chorao villagers to reduce RoRo ferry charges for cars from Rs30 to Rs10 and to allow two-wheelers free passage, villagers informed after meeting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today. The concession will apply only to vehicles owned by Chorao residents. Villagers said the CM assured them that the new rates will come into effect within 8–10 days. The River Navigation Department (RND) will set up a counter in the village to issue separate passes for their vehicles. They added that the CM also agreed to deploy additional ferries on the route to ease congestion. Of the 300–400 cars using RoRo ferries daily, hardly about 50–60 belong to Chorao villagers, they pointed out.
