Govt finally appoints 7 members on Goa State Commission for Women

    Digital Goa, Oct 4 – Goa govt has finally appointed 7 members on the Goa State Commission for Women reviving the hope of justice for the 322 cases pending before the commission. Delilah Lobo, MLA Siolim Assembly Constituency, Dr Vrinda Borkar, Dr Prita Mallya, Aruna Dhuri representing an NGO “Janjagruti” Quepem, Ketaki Parab Gadekar, Dr Jyoti Sawant and Adv Siddhi Parodkar are appointed as members of the commission. When the term of the commission had ended in 2022 around 322 cases filed by women in distress were pending before it. Nearly a year after this, in March 2023, Ranjita Pai was appointed as chairperson of the commission. However, as members were not appointed hearings could not be conducted. Nearly 7 months after the appointment of the Chairperson, govt has finally appointed the 7 members of the commission. The tenure of these members will be 3 years from the date of appointment.
