Sept 4 – Govt has no intention of making any changes in the Official Language Act, asserted CM Pramod Sawant today. Dyanpith Awardee Konkani writer Damodar Mauzo’s statement asserting that Marathi should not be given any place in Goa’s Official Language Act had stirred hornet’s nest in the state with Konkani as well as Marathi language camps vehemently justifying their own stands. When CM Sawant was queried about his stand as regards place of Romi Konkani, Sawant asserted that he has already made his stand in the matter clear in the state legislative assembly. In the monsoon session of the assembly CM had stated in a written reply that there was no proposal to amend the law to include Konkani written in Roman script as part of the official language.
