Govt invites bids for ₹130 crore redevelopment of Sanjivani Sugar Factory under PPP model

Panaji, Nov 13 – In a relief of sorts for Sugarcane farmers in the state, Government of Goa has finally invited proposals for the ₹130 crore redevelopment of the Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Limited (SSSKL) at Dharbandora under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The project aims to modernize the State’s only sugar factory with a new crushing capacity of not less than 3,500 tons of cane per day (TCD) and establish an ethanol distillery of at least 75 KLPD, along with an ENA bottling plant and a petrol pump. The redevelopment will be undertaken on a Design, Finance, Build, Operate and Transfer (DFBOT) basis. The total land area available for development is approximately 2,40,000 sq metres. Established in 1971 and operational since 1974, Sanjivani factory has been non-operational since the 2019–20 crushing season. At present, sugarcane is cultivated in about 550 hectares across the State, producing around 60,000 tons annually.
