Govt monitoring school admission process to ensure students with disabilities are not denied admissions: CM

Digital Goa, Mar 4 – Goa govt is monitoring the school admission process to ensure that children with disability are not denied admissions, informed CM Pramod Sawant. Secretary Education, Director Education are monitoring the admission process, said Sawant. Goa govt has made it mandatory for schools to give admission to children with disability in nearby schools, he added. “Admission cannot be avoided,” he asserted. He was speaking at spectacle distribution program under Education Dept organised through CSR activity of Prasad Netralya and Colorcom. Eyes of 2.5 lakh students from schools across Goa were tested in first phase by training teachers in basic testing. 33,000 children who were identified through this process were thoroughly tested for eye defects. 3,500 of these students will be given spectacles under the initiative. 9 of these children have major eye issues and 5 are expected to undergo surgery to correct the defects.
